Instructions to Unlock and Activate Virgin iPhones with 1.1.1 using SimFree v1.7
(Works for virgin 1.1.1 and upgraded 1.0.2)Requirements:
- Purchase SimFree license (1 unit for each iPhone)
- Wi-Fi connection (access to WEP key if it is secured)
SimFree v1.7 now Native for v1.1.1 iPhones:
With the release of the new jailbreak/activation by the community development teams
there is no longer a need to downgrade to 1.0.2. SimFree 1.7 is
specifically tailored to be run on 1.1.1 phones with no need to
downgrade. The brilliant work by the teams combined with SimFree 1.7
means that it is now possible to get a brand new 1.1.1 phone and have
it fully up and running in under 10 minutes (time may vary depending on your Wi-Fi connection speed).
We strongly recommend that all our licensees switch to this new method of jailbreak.
This will make our support to you easier. Please note that if you have already unlocked
your phone once using any previous version of SimFree there is no need to unlock it again.
Please follow the simple step by step instructions outlined below to get Simfee 1.7 onto a
freshly jailbroken phone.
02. Type *#307# and hit Call, the phone will start ringing and display 1 Calling.
03. Delete all the numbers (use the backspace button from the top right of the screen) and Call the number 0.
04. Press Answer, followed by Hold and then Decline.
05. Go to Contacts and create a contact. Call it "jailbreak" (or anything you like), Save It. Set up TWO URL fields.
06. In the first Url field type prefs://1f and save it. Then add another URL and type jailbreakme.com and save it.
07. Click on the prefs://1f and you can select your WiFi network. Join your WiFi network. If prompted, type in you WEP key (if yours is a secured network) and JOIN.
08. Select "Settings" on top left. Scroll down to select "General". Select "Auto-Lock", Set to NEVER.
09. Exit by pressing HOME button. Get back to emergency dial screen and then Dial and Call the number 0. Followed by ANSWER, HOLD, DECLINE to take you back to Contacts.
10. Select the second URL called jailbreakme.com of the contact you created. Safari will launch and you will be directed to a web page. If safari does not work, you have not set up your WiFi correctly. Repeat Step 6.
11. Read the Features and FAQ and follow the Install AppSnapp (at the bottom of webpage).
[The time it takes the for the jailbreak to complete varies by the connection speed of your WiFi. You need to be patient and let the software do its job. Anything between 5 to 10 minutes, please wait]
12. Wait for it to finish and reboot the phone when its done. [Reboot = hold sleep button for 3 seconds, slide to power off, hold sleep button to restart phone]
[If after restarting you are back to the activate/emergency screen, reboot once more]
13. Now AppTapp Installer is on your Home Screen so you can install SimFree v1.7 directly on the phone.
[STOP HERE If you are our existing licensee and previously unlocked using SimFree v1.6 and earlier, otherwise, carry on to Step 14]
14. Launch Installer, after refreshing, you will be on the Installer main page with 5 icons at the bottom (1. featured, 2. install, 3. update, 4. uninstall, 5. sources).
15. In Sources (bottom right icon) press Edit, Add, and type in http://tinyurl.com/2qxpe6 . Accept the AppTapp installer message and it will show iPhoneSimFree on your Install list (second icon on the bottom list).
16. After that you must install SimFree v1.7 from the * iPhoneSimFree * category tab. At the end of install, press HOME button once. Slide to unlock screen, and find the new simfree icon on your phone.
17. If you missed out "Step 08", you should now Go to the phone Settings application and in General - AutoLock, select Never
18. Remove your AT&T sim card from phone. Power Off. Power On without sim card
19. You can now run SimFree v1.7, tap the simfree icon on your phone. Wait for "unlock successful". Click "OK" and "OK" again to remove simfree from phone. Press HOME button.
20. Your phone is now unlocked and ready for use with any sim card. Put in your local sim card and enjoy.
