MAXIMiPhone - Software Instructions (Mac OS X)

Required Downloads:

1. Download iNdependence 1.2.5 from http://code.google.com/p/independence/
2. Downloaded simfree, if not:  http://www.maximiphone.com/abc123/simfree.zip
3. Download firmware 1.0.2 from http://www.maximiphone.com/abc123/iPhone1_FW.ipsw.zip (Save to Desktop). It is likely Safari will automatically unzip and create a FOLDER "iPhone1_FW.ipsw" (you need this folder when running iNdependence)
4. You also need the ZIPPED file to restore your iPhone to 1.0.2 (iPhone1_FW.ipsw.zip), if you cant find it on desktop, retrieve from your trash can. Place it on desktop

Now the steps:

• Launch Independence 1.2.5 > Goto Firmware Tab > Enter DFU Mode > Choose Firmware FOLDER from above
• (Your phone is now in recovery mode and requires a restore)
  
• I like you to restore (click OPTION key and RESTORE button) on iTunes to firmware 1.0.2 
• (When prompted to select restore file, Select the ZIPPED firmware file from above)
• Expect an error message at end saying "Error 1013" - cannot restore.
• Ignore message - this is the DESIRED outcome.
• Using iNdependence (1.2.5)
• Activate your phone
• (When prompted for Firmware > Choose the FOLDER "iPhone1_FW.ipsw"  (should be on our desktop)
• Check status of phone is activated and jailbroken
• Turn on WiFi and Autolock to Never
• Install SSH on phone
• Change password for "root" to "dottie"
• Goto Settings > WiFi  > select your nextwork > note down your phone's IP number (blue arrow)
• Customise > Application > User > Add  > SELECT SimFree.app
• (You will prompted for IP number and password)
• Slide phone to unlock screen
• You are now ready to run simfree
  
• (If your is a bricked phone, remember to remove simcard when running simfree)

At the end  of process you should have an unlocked 1.0.2

Now to Upgrade to Firmware 1.1.1

Now that you have unlocked at 1.0.2 take the following steps:

1. QUIT iTunes and iTunesHelper (QUIT PROCESS using Activity Monitor)
   
2. Launch iNdependence (1.2.5 is best)
3. Check that status of your phone is : "Connected, Activated, AFC Connection, Jailbroken"
4. Select SSH Tab
5. Install SSH   (You will be prompted to reboot your phone, follow on screen instructions)
6. Success!
7. Select Firmware Tab
8. Pre-1.1.1 button should now be active, Click Pre 1.1.1
9. When prompted to Start iTunes > Click OK  (you dont need to start iTunes yet)
10. When you get "success, now ready for upgrade", QUIT iNdependence
11. Start iTunes
12. You may be prompted to set-up iPhone >  set it up as a new phone  (iPhone)
13. UNCHECK ALL autosyncing instructions
14. [Your iPhone is now in a temporary state with only 300MB of  hard disk, do not panic]
15. At the Summary Tab, select UPGRADE
16. Wait........ (iTunes will upgrade your Phone to 1.1.1, this may take from 10-20 minutes, depending on your download speed), very uncommon for anything to go wrong, just sit and wait...
17. At the end, iTunes will alert saying :  "You have successfully upgraded, iTunes will recognize your iPhone etc"
18. QUIT ITunes and do NOTHING (your phone is NOT ready to be used)
19. Relaunch iNdependence
20. Click ACTIVATE  - you will be prompted to REBOOT your phone TWICE

Congrats!  You are now at 1.1.1
